Urban Company (UrbanClap) in Dubai: Honest Review

Last verified:

Urban Company, still known to many residents by its old name UrbanClap, is one of the most popular home services apps in the UAE. You can book a cleaner, a hairdresser, a massage therapist, an AC technician or a babysitter from the same app, usually for the same day. But is it good value, and does the “instant” service really arrive on time? We tested it and pulled together current prices, reviews and the best ways to pay less.

Key takeaways

  • Urban Company operates in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah and covers cleaning, beauty, massage, repairs, AC, pest control and childcare.
  • Cleaning starts at AED 52 for one hour (AED 59 with materials), and multi-visit bundles bring it down to about AED 40 per visit.
  • The instant cleaning service promises a cleaner within 30 minutes, but delays of up to an hour happen.
  • Human customer support is helpful. The AI chat you meet first is not.
  • At-home massage is well rated but therapists are often late. Cooks may speak little English, so agree the menu in writing.
  • Link your SHARE account to earn up to 10% back in points on your first booking and up to 1.5% after that.

What is Urban Company?

Urban Company was founded in India in 2014 as UrbanClap and rebranded in January 2020, the same year it launched in the UAE. It is now listed on India’s stock exchanges and also operates in Singapore and Saudi Arabia. The app connects you with trained, background-verified professionals, and you pay a fixed price shown before you book.

In 2025 Urban Company also partnered with noon, so you can book its cleaners and other services directly inside the noon app.

Cleaning: bundles, subscriptions and add-ons

Single cleaning sessions are priced by the hour, from AED 52 for one hour to AED 199 for six hours without materials. Bringing materials adds between AED 7 and AED 70 depending on the length of the visit.

The better deal is a multi-visit bundle. Discounts rise with the number of visits:

3 visitsUp to 15%2 monthsAED 46
6 visitsUp to 20%4 monthsAED 43

Urban Company also offers monthly cleaning subscriptions with the same cleaner each visit, from once to six times a week. Small add-ons, such as fridge cleaning (AED 29) or ironing (AED 25), can be added in 30-minute blocks.

Instant cleaning (Insta Help): does it really arrive in 30 minutes?

Urban Company launched instant cleaning in the UAE in October 2025, promising a cleaner at your door within 30 minutes.

Our experience: it can be impressively fast, and we have had a cleaner arrive in about 20 minutes. But it is not consistent. Delays of up to an hour happen, and at that point you have paid for an urgent booking and received what is effectively a standard one. If you are not in a rush, a regular booking made a day ahead is better value.

When we raised the delays, Urban Company explained that it relies on external suppliers, which can affect arrival times. That may be true, but it is not the customer’s problem. If an app advertises a cleaner in under 30 minutes and charges for that speed, it should have the logistics to deliver it, or at least show a realistic arrival time before you pay.

Customer support

When something goes wrong, Urban Company’s human support agents are responsive and do resolve problems. Getting to one is the frustrating part: the first point of contact is an AI chat assistant that struggles with anything beyond basic questions. Be persistent and ask for an agent.

Massage and cooking: our experience

At-home massage: good treatments, late arrivals

Urban Company’s at-home massage is one of its best-rated services, and the treatments themselves have been good. Punctuality is the weak point: therapists often arrive late. Avoid booking a massage right before another commitment, and leave some buffer in your evening.

At-home cook: the experience we would not repeat

Urban Company also offers at-home cooks. The one we booked was listed for Indian cuisine only, which was made clear. What was not clear is that the cook would speak very little English, which should be a basic requirement for a service that depends on understanding what the customer wants.

We asked for chicken tikka masala and sambousa. He kept pushing to make butter chicken instead, and every instruction turned into a struggle. Then, while preparing to cook, he poured around half a litre of our very expensive olive oil into a pot. We caught him just before he turned on the heat. Otherwise, it would have been the most expensive sambousa ever made.

If you book a cook: agree the exact menu in the app chat beforehand, put out only the ingredients and oil you want used, and stay nearby for the first session.

Urban Company reviews: what do customers say?

Ratings depend on where you look. Inside the app, Dubai cleaning services average 4.78 out of 5 from about 25,000 reviews, home massage averages 4.90 and the women’s salon 4.88. On Trustpilot, Urban Company scores far lower, around 1.2 out of 5, but most of those reviews come from India rather than the UAE. The common themes are late or cancelled visits and frustration with automated support, which matches our own experience with instant bookings.

How to save money on Urban Company

  1. Link SHARE to Urban Company. In the SHARE app, connect your accounts before booking to earn up to 10% back in SHARE points on your first UAE booking and up to 1.5% on later ones.
  2. Buy a bundle. A 12-visit cleaning bundle saves up to 25% compared with single bookings.
  3. Book longer sessions. A 4-hour clean costs about AED 35 per hour, against AED 52 for a single hour.
  4. Use your own cleaning products. Skipping materials saves up to AED 70 per visit on longer bookings.
  5. Avoid paying for speed you don’t need. Instant bookings are not always instant, so plan ahead when you can.
  6. Check noon. Urban Company services are bookable in the noon app, and noon One members have been promised extra perks.

Pros and cons

Pros:

  • Clear, fixed prices before you book
  • Huge range of services in one app
  • Bundles and subscriptions cut cleaning costs by up to 25%
  • Earn SHARE points on every booking
  • Helpful human support once you reach it

Cons:

  • Instant bookings can run up to an hour late
  • AI chat makes reaching an agent slow
  • Single short bookings are expensive per hour
  • Massage therapists often arrive late
  • Cooks may have limited English

Is Urban Company worth it?

Yes, for most people. Urban Company is one of the best options for short, fixed-price cleans and for at-home beauty and massage, where its ratings are especially strong. For regular weekly cleaning, buy a bundle and link SHARE to get the price down. If punctuality is critical, book in advance rather than relying on the instant service, and think twice before booking a cook. Matic and ServiceMarket are often cheaper for regular weekly cleaning, and this comparison of the best cleaning services in Dubai shows how all six major apps stack up.
